HDFC Bank Appoints Vibhash Naik as Chief Human Resource Officer

HDFC Bank has announced the appointment of Vibhash Naik as its new Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO), effective February 1, 2026. The appointment was approved by the Bank’s Board of Directors following recommendations from the Governance, Nomination and Remuneration Committee.

Naik — who joins HDFC Bank as a Senior Management Personnel — brings with him over 25 years of experience across HR leadership roles in banking, insurance, and financial services. Before this appointment, he served as CHRO at HDFC Life Insurance Company (HDFC Life), where he led the Human Resources, Learning & Development, and Corporate Administration functions. During his 14-year tenure at HDFC Life, he was instrumental in building a technology-enabled people ecosystem designed to enhance employee experience, streamline processes, and foster a collaborative organizational culture.

Over his long career, Naik has held leadership positions at institutions including Lehman Brothers, Religare Macquarie Wealth Management, Tata Interactive, and Atos Origin — gaining wide exposure to talent management, organizational development, performance management, HR technology, and rewards across sectors.

In a corporate environment where talent, employee experience and digital-first HR transformation are increasingly critical, HDFC Bank’s decision to bring on a seasoned HR leader like Naik signals a renewed focus on strengthening people strategy, talent development, and operational excellence. The new CHRO will likely play a key role as the bank manages its large workforce, scales operations across geographies and business lines, and aligns its human capital policies with long-term organizational growth.

With the bank undergoing continued expansion and evolving market dynamics, Naik’s leadership is expected to steer initiatives around learning & development, performance management, and HR modernization — ensuring HDFC Bank stays competitive not just in financial metrics, but also in building a robust, engaged workforce.
