Job Description

• Develop and edit manuscripts / content provided by authors to ensure organisation, accuracy, relevance, conformance and adherence to editorial guidelines, timelines, budgets and quality
• Provide assistance, feedback and queries for improving content
• Evaluate content and check every component before allocating projects to vendors/ copyeditors for further work
• Ensure that all vendors and freelancers adhere to quality checks and are given continual feedback for quality issues
• Contribute to complete pre-press editorial functions in ELT. To take responsibility for pre-press project management -- to offer general assistance in working with authors, copyeditors, freelancers, typesetters, project vendors, indexers, designers, illustrators and others in bringing projects forward and ensuring their successful publication
• Handle different projects in pre-press production
• Maintain quality standards set by the Press
• Run stringent checks on content before the publishing stage
• Adhere to the Press’ policies including compliance policies
• Manage reprint and re-run titles projected for a financial year
• Adhere to the publishing schedule for all formats; implement agreed plans for product development and enhancements

Education

  • UG Qualification: Bachelor of Arts (B.A) In English
  • PG Qualification: Master of Arts (M.A.) In English
  • Doctorate/Ph.D: Doctorate Not RequiredDoctorate Not Required In Test Doctorate Specialisation

Desired Candidate Profile

• Over 5 years of experience of working with a range of both print and digital educational/academic projects and managing complex multi-component projects
• Knowledge of ELT
• Ability to communicate well in English, both verbally and in writing
• Awareness of publishing processes
• Attention to detail, quality control and an ability to engage with content at the highest level
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to follow processes closely
• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work to tight deadlines
• A high standard of computer literacy – MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint
• Presentation skills
• Time Management – scheduling and planning work; managing time competently
• Judgment and decision making -- considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions before acting
