I personally have several job applications where the status of the application has remained 'In Progress' for many months. Is this the new normal and it is taking a very long time to complete the hiring process? Or is HR failing to complete the job posting process by changing the status to 'position filled'? Should an applicant assume that the position is still open or that it has been filled? In one case it has been almost a year and the application has remained 'In Progress'.
